Sandmeyer Steel Company Supports the U.S. Military in the Air, on Land, at Sea, and in Space.

Sandmeyer Steel Company is a proud supplier of all branches of the United States military. We maintain rigorous quality systems to meet their demanding applications. Alloys for aerospace service must maintain stability at high temperatures, exhibit toughness, and be resistant to high-temperature oxidation and corrosion.

Because of its low coefficient of thermal expansion, SSC-36 (Invar) is the alloy of choice for aerospace composite tooling and dies. Stainless Steel plate grades, Nickel Alloys, and Titanium have been used in space and missile systems.

Our commodity stainless grades, along with duplex alloys and 17-4PH, are used to manufacture military vehicle cabs, armor and shock absorbers, missile fire control systems, and tanks.

Sandmeyer Steel Company¡¯s Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloy, and Titanium plate are used extensively for their corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, and ease of fabrication in marine applications.

We are proud of our decades-long history of supplying Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Nickel Alloy plate products for the United States Navy. Over the years, we have supplied commodity Stainless Steel grades such as 304/304L and 316/316L. For more corrosive applications, duplex alloys 2205 and 2507 have been utilized. 17-4PH has been utilized for its combination of strength and moderate corrosion resistance. For those highly-corrosive seawater applications, Nickel Alloys 400, 400AR, 625, and C276, and Titanium grade 2/2H have found service in both submarines and surface ships.

To participate in these demanding markets, Sandmeyer Steel Company has implemented and maintained numerous military quality control measures to meet the requirements of the following:

  • MIL-I-45208A
  • MIL-C-45662A
  • QQ-S
  • QQ-N
  • Electric Boat EB 2678 Level 1 Material Supplier

Our status as an approved Level 1 supplier of plate enables us to participate in the United States submarine program's demanding applications. We are able to implement this status by maintaining the following systems/procedures:

  • Military Quality Assurance Manual
  • Process Level 1 orders
  • Upgrade material if necessary
  • Maintain hardcopy of job packets forever
  • Specs coded and noted appendices for specific requirements
  • Special product marking
  • Annual internal quality system audit

At Sandmeyer Steel Company, we are proud of our history of supplying the United States military with the Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloy, and Titanium plate and plate products they require to defend our freedoms.
